A public space and playground with
the concept pulled from the film "Memento." Fantasy Grounds, in likeness of the film, displays different
facades and often gives visitors a false sense of identity and surroundings. The back drop for this park is New York
City, with its tall urban structures fencing the trees and flowers with in Central
Park.
Fantasy Grounds appears to be the offspring
of the two. Creating a mirage like garden built from the very thing that has created fence around park. Fantasy
Grounds is constructed from urban materials and reflects the very same organic forms that surround it within the park.
Slightly camouflaging it's over sized structure with its surroundings.
A Spider Lilly flower was the source
of inspiration for the towers. Its large leaves became walkways and slides. The flower stalks became
ladders and fire man poles. By means of repetition, slightly manipulating the parks environment and alternate perspectives,
"Fantasy Grounds" gives park visitors a lost sense of self as they fall somewhere in between fantasy and reality.
